Aftercare Guide
Proper aftercare is essential to help your tattoo heal well and stay clear and vibrant for years to come. Please follow the instructions below carefully.

Standard Bandage
- Leave on for 2-4 hours.
- Wash gently with lukewarm water.
- Use mild, fragrance-free soap.
- Pat dry with fresh paper towel.
- Apply thin layer of ointment.
Second-Skin Bandage
- Leave first wrap for 24 hours.
- Replace if fluid buildup occurs.
- Keep second wrap for 3-5 days.
- Peel under warm running water.
- Follow standard washing after removal.

Expect normal dryness, itching, and flaking as your skin recovers. Wash twice daily but avoid over-washing, and let all scabs or flakes detach naturally without picking to ensure your art heals perfectly.
CLEANSE
Wash the area twice a day using gentle, unscented soap. Avoid over-washing to prevent irritation, and always pat the skin dry with a clean paper towel rather than rubbing or scrubbing it.
HYDRATE
Apply a very thin layer of mild moisturizer once or twice daily. Do not apply too much - the tattoo should not feel greasy, wet, or sticky. Choose a fragrance-free, dye-free lotion or an artist-approved tattoo aftercare product.
7-DAY
ROUTINE
DRESS
Keep the area protected by wearing clean, loose-fitting clothing. This prevents friction and allows for natural airflow, which is essential for a healthy recovery throughout the first week.

Dirty Contact
UV rays can severely fade and
damage a healing tattoo. Keep your new ink covered until it is fully healed.
Removing scabs prematurely
can pull out pigment and cause
scarring. Let scabs fall off naturally.
Avoid pools, hot tubs, and baths for at least two weeks to prevent infection from bacteria or chemicals.
Tight straps or fabrics can rub
and irritate the fresh wound.
Wear loose, breathable cotton instead.
FAQs & Troubleshooting
Is it normal for my new tattoo to itch or flake?
Absolutely. Itching and peeling are signs of the skin regenerating. Do not pick or scratch, as this can pull ink out. Lightly pat or apply a thin layer of recommended ointment to soothe the sensation.
How long does the initial healing process take?
The surface layer usually heals within 2 to 3 weeks. However, deeper layers of skin can take up to 4 to 6 months to fully consolidate. Following the aftercare steps strictly during the first month is critical.
When should I be concerned and contact a professional?
If you experience excessive redness, swelling beyond the first 48 hours, yellow discharge, or fever, contact a medical professional immediately. For minor fading or touch-up questions, reach out to your artist directly.
Can I workout with a new tattoo?
Wait at least 48 hours before intense exercise. Sweat and friction from gym equipment can cause irritation and introduce bacteria. Avoid public gyms until the tattoo has finished scabbing.
